Josiah Stubb - "Wow! A Must Read For Every History Buff"

From Marsha Jeanne Thalleen. Naturally I loved this, but also found it quite interesting. My friend, Amber, also tells me that her favourite character is Captain Beaumont. Go figure. Seriously though, that's terribly gratifying to hear.

Thank you Marsha.

Josiah Stubb: The Siege of Louisbourg by C.W. Lovatt is an amazing book. I'm not a historian by any means, but the story line and characters ring so close to true as to sway of more fact than fiction. These characters are tough and willing to do whatever it takes to survive. It is amazing how strongly I felt for all of them, good and bad. The battle scenes are nothing short of genius. And, without giving spoilers, I loved the flashbacks into the back stories of the characters. Josiah is hero, a hero full of hope. Well done indeed.

Spiffingly good tale which really did have me laughing out loud at times, and almost in tears in the sad bits. I bought this as a holiday read with a difference being tired of American detectives and boring plot lines in general.

I found the writing style fresh and the storyline excellent. I won't even go into the details of the tale, just buy the book and watch out for the elephant gun, witch doctors and A-rab slavers. Boy's Own plus sex and violence, brilliant.
